4/5 day Cruise "5 Greek Islands & Turkey with Kusadasi" from Piraeus

We depart from Piraeus(Athens) and return to Piraeus(Athens).

The Celestyal Olympia, your Aegean queen, is a cozy floating resort. We call first at Mykonos, an island so beautiful you’ll think you’ve woken into a dream. Enjoy its cool breezes as you stroll the picturesque alleys of Mykonos Town and, after the sun slips into the sea, enjoy the island’s world-famous nightlife. From Mykonos we sail overnight to arrive for breakfast in quiet Kusadasi, whose white sand beaches and incomparable shopping are a stone’s throw from the legendary excavation of Ancient Ephesus and the Terrace Houses, one of the largest and most complete ancient cities in the world, the House of the Virgin Mary, beautiful Sirince Village and the thrilling metropolis of Izmir. Kusadasi is also home to a fantastic covered bazaar, where you can shop with a view of the town’s picturesque harbor.

We arrive at 16:00 at the blessed island of Patmos, a verdant, mountainous paradise considered one of the world’s loveliest destinations. Many believe John the Apostle wrote the Book of Revelations in a mountainside grotto on Patmos where he heard the voice of God. At the top of the mountain, within the white walls of Hora, the monastery founded in his honor in 1088 stands guard above this holy island. We leave Patmos and sail for magnificent Rhodes, where we have a full day to explore yet another incomparable island. The Palace of the Grand Masters, in the old walled city of Rhodes, a UNESCO World Heritage site, will make you think you’ve stepped back in time, as will the ancient Acropolis of Lindos, high above the sea, and the Citadel of the Knights. Try some delicious local wines and relax at charming Tsampika Beach, or just stroll the old city and enjoy an al fresco lunch and a traditional Greek coffee, strong enough to fortify you for an afternoon wandering through the past.

From Rhodes we sail overnight to Heraklion, an ancient Venetian port and the capital of Crete. Greece’s largest island will greet you like family. It’s a wonderland of secluded beaches, hiking trails, rivers and archeological marvels, including the Minoan Palace of Knossos, the first civilization in Europe, and the Archeological Museum in Heraklion. However you decide to spend your morning in Crete, you’ll fall in love. And don’t leave the island without a bottle of Cretan olive oil, the world’s finest.

Enjoy a delicious lunch on the pool deck or a traditional Greek coffee at Thalassa Bar, on Deck 10, the bright blue surface of the Aegean glittering beneath you, as we sail from Heraklion for an evening in breathtaking Santorini. Its massive cliffs rise from the blue waters of the Aegean like a dream. Take a jeep safari into the interior or a cruise to Santorini’s smaller islands and volcanoes, visit the Akrotiri Village excavations, or just sit in a café in spectacular Oia Village and watch the sunset from 300 meters above the azure sea. This is what it’s like to visit the sky.

Your magical four days concludes on another glorious Attic morning. So what did you love most? All of it, right?

Piraeus port is the gateway to Athens center. Don't miss the Parthenon, the temple to Athena which looms over Athens from its perch atop the Acropolis, an eternal icon of art and civilization. Completed in 438 B.C., the temple still astounds as the flowering of Greek art and architecture. When you come down off the hill, don't miss a visit to the Ancient Agora, Syntagma Square, the Acropolis Museum and the city's historic centre, around Plaka. Ideally, sit and relax at a cafe on the foot of the hill, sample some Greek souvlaki or a frappe, take a glance back up the hill from time to time and give the goddess her due.

Patmos is one of the northernmost islands of the Dodecanese island cluster. Patmos is mentioned in the Bible Book of Revelation, written by St John the Apostle, who is believed to have lived in the Cave of the Apocalypse and was instructed by a heavenly figure to write down the contents of a vision. Thus, Patmos is a destination for Christian pilgrimage, a picturesque island that keeps evolving without losing its air of quiet tranquility. In 1999, the island's historic center Chora, along with the Monastery of Saint John the Theologian and the Cave of the Apocalypse, were declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.

Rhodes is an enchanting island that shines green and white, surrounded by the blue waters of the eastern Aegean. It is strewn with small towns and was merely one of the most glorious cities of antiquity, the world- renowned Island of the Knights. The Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, stood more than 100 feet high at the edge of the harbor, before an earthquake toppled it in 226 B.C. Of the statue, nothing remains, but Rhodes Old Town, a World Heritage Site, remains one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe and a place of pilgrimage for cruise travelers. Stroll along the medieval streets and the wonderful fortifications, walk along the Street of the Knights and visit the Palace of the Knights.

Don't miss the Palace of Knossos, the largest of the preserved Minoan palatial centres, situated not more than 5 kms from Heraklion. It is the most visited archaeological site in Crete. The palace was the seat of the legendary King Minos and has been associated with famous Greek myths, like that of Daedalus and Icarus, the Labyrinth and the Minotaur. The incredible complex houses a warren of rooms decorated with columns and frescoes.

Santorini is essentially what remains of an enormous volcanic explosion dated back 3,600 years (between 1627- 1600 BC) and which created the current geological caldera: a giant central lagoon, more or less rectangular, measuring about 12 by 7 km. The effect is still explosive: 300-m-high steep cliffs on three sides rise from sea level, cubic white houses surrounded by pink bougainvilleas glow in the Aegean sun. The wild beauty, the fascinating Caldera, the gold sunset, of the Number 1 destination in Greece will steal your heart away!
